Essential VIII: Advanced Nursing Practice

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Doctorate Essentials, particularly Essential VIII, outlines the competencies needed for advanced nursing practice. This essential emphasizes the ability to conduct thorough assessments, design and evaluate interventions, foster therapeutic relationships, demonstrate sound clinical judgment, guide other nurses, educate individuals and groups, and analyze practice-related issues.

First, I conducted a comprehensive assessment of hemoptysis, incorporating diverse approaches, which aligns with the essential’s emphasis on conducting systematic evaluations of health parameters. Through this assignment, I was able to design and evaluate therapeutic interventions grounded in nursing science, illustrating my ability to implement evidence-based strategies for managing this condition. This project required me to utilize advanced clinical judgment and thinking. I analyzed various factors affecting hemoptysis management, demonstrating accountability in my clinical decision-making. It also gave me an opportunity to guide and mentor my peers by sharing best practices, enhancing our collaboration as a team.
